About PRG | TRACIE METZGER

Tracie Metzger

In the midst of six months of chemotherapy and a double mastectomy with reconstruction, Tracie went into menopause at age 31.  Dealing with that at such a young age was very difficult and frustrating.  However, after almost a year of hot flashes and night sweats, Tracie came out of menopause and her menstrual cycles returned.  Not long after that, Tracie was was blessed with a daughter whom she named Hope after all that she’d been through.  Then about 16 months later, Tracie was blessed again with the birth of a son!

Along with the help of Dawn Harvey, she co-founded Pink Ribbon Girls, a support network for young women diagnosed with breast cancer, in October 2001.  Through this non-profit organization, young women are offered education and awareness for early detection, support and an outlet to express fears. The topics of discussion include, dating, caring for young children while undergoing treatment and fitness and nutrition. Pink Ribbon Girls have a national, searchable database, providing a way for the members to connect with other young women with similar demographics and life circumstances.

Today, Tracie spends her time focusing on educating the public and raising awareness about young women with breast cancer through public speaking.  She resides in Cincinnati, Ohio with her husband and four children. Tracie was recently named the 2010 Recipient of the Kids II Pink Power Super Mom Award
